QUINCHAO AND SURROUNDS
Comprising the middle of the island of Quinchao and an archipelago of ten other islands: Llingua, Lin-Lín, Quenac, Cahuach, Meulín, Teuquelín, Alao, Chaulinec and Apiao, this is an attractive area for visiting sailors. From the town of Achao, the area capital, there are impressive views of islands especially the nearest island, Llingüa, known for fine crafts using vegetable fibres. The port of Achao is used by launches from all around the area and has many charming homes.
The Plaza of Achao is the town centre both administratively and architecturally with the oldest church in Chile, Iglesia Santa María de Achao, the fire station and town hall.
