With its atmosphere of an old English port the Avenida Centenario gives a good view of the sheltered Bay of Quemchi. Go on to Yungay past the wharf and turn left to Calle Pedro Montt. The Colohane family mausoleum can be visited by turning into Calle 18 de Septiembre. Now continue to Calle Libertad and head south.
4 km South of Quemchi lays Aucar Island, where the 560-meter long foot bridge (under repair) gives access to its chapel and cemetery. The road goes through a newly felled forest, past Laguna Popetán Lake and Montemar in the Colo estuary. Continue to the church in San Antonio de Colo, declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO, and then turn left at the junction to Quicaví. The journey continues south through Tenaún, San Juan and Dalcahue, from where the Pan-American north brings you to Degañ and back to Quemchi.
