QUEMCHI AND ENVIRONS
The area is situated on the north eastern coast of Chiloé. Quemchi lies alongside the canal that separates it from Isla Caucahué and is an important port for the Gulf of Ancud. Seas in the gulf can be ferocious and dangerous for small craft. Included in the area are the six islands of the Chaques group, which boast traditional churches and houses. The village of Mechuque stands out with its scenic walks, boat trips on the canal and an impressive hanging footbridge. |
