Start with a visit to the lookout, reached from Calle Pdte. Kennedy, from where there is an excellent view of the volcanoes on the continental coast. Next visit the square and the church of Nuestra Señora del Tránsito. Continue towards the waterfront by Calle P. Aguirre Cerda, and visit the cultural centre next to the foot pier. Finish your walk by crossing the sands to the point where you will be almost completely surrounded by water. |

From Queilen it is possible to visit a number of communities and scenic spots. Good road signs help the trip. Go 8 km towards Chonchi to visit Aituy and enjoy its river and church on the seashore. Then follow the coast road for 2.5 km to visit the beaches at Lelbún, amongst the most attractive of the island. Leave the main road and turn right for a 15-km detour to Agoní. Return to the main road and at 18 km turn left for Apeche Bajo and Paildad that lie on the shores of Paildad estuary. Backtrack to Contuy and San Miguel; then, via the new road, to Detico and back to the main Queilen road.
Recommendations: Fill up with fuel in Chonchi as Queilen does not have a service station.
