Start with the church, a national monument and recently declared UNESO World Heritage site. Continue to the museum and then (on Thursdays and Sundays) stroll around the waterfront Craft Fair. Continue along the waterfront, past the fish cannery and the traditional boatyards to the ferry ramp for Isla Quinchao. For the return trip visit the Medialuna "Rene Urzua" where typical Chilean Rodeo is practised. |

Leave Dalcahue towards the north and turn right onto the unsealed road to Tocoihue where there is a waterfall reached by a short track. Continue along the road to the junction, turning to the right leads to the fishing villages of Calen y San Juan.
Turning left takes you to Tenaún, which is a good spot for lunch. From here it is possible to hire a boat for the 45 minute journey to Isla Mechuque which is a noted for its pretty buildings, boats and scenery.
Return to Dalcahue by the same route.

By Boat:
There are frequent organised boat trips from Dalcahue, these will take you on an interesting tour of the channels and marine installations and provide a different view of the town and country.
By Sea Kayak:
It is possible to take sea-kayaking trips from Dalcahue. These are neither dangerous nor difficult for those that wish to experience the canals in a craft similar to the "dalcas" of the original inhabitants. |
