A little more than 2 km after leaving the ferry you will reach the junction of Changüitad where you should turn to the right onto an unsealed road which takes you to a viewing point, then on to the Museum Don Galvarino Riveros Cárdenas and a watermill. In the plaza visit the natural history museum and shrine of Admiral Riveros. Stroll through Calle Errázuriz to view the old wooden houses before returning to the plaza and descending to the waterfront. Here you will find the large community of Black necked Swans and the oyster sellers. Craft works are on sale near the beach that is also fun for the children and good for games. |

Leaving Curaco de Vélez follow the road called Camino de La Planchada as far as the junction of Tolquien. Turn right onto the sealed road for 2 km, then turn left for Los Palquis going as far as Huyar Bajo which is on the sea front. The views take in a wonderful mix of countryside and islands. Continue to Huyar Alto where there is an image of the Virgin of Lourdes. After 3 km you will be back on the sealed road once again.
Recommendation: The route is steep and mainly unsealed it should only be followed in summer.
