The municipality has been working hard to develop tourist facilities and this is a good example of what has been achieved. You will be surprised at how much there is to see. This Panoramic lookout should not be missed on your visit.
Museo Galvarino Riveros:
Buried in the country, at the original site of his home, the museum Don Galvarino Riveros gives a glimpse of national history through one of the heroes of the War of the Pacific. Galvarino Riveros was born here in 1829 and participated in the capture of the Peruvian warship Huascar.
Traditional Homes:
These older homes, dating form the 1930?s, make us remember the people who lived peacefully in this isolated community through a traumatic period of World History.
Oysters:
Around Curaco de Vélez Japanese oysters are cultivated. These may be sampled in on of the attractive eating-places on the waterfront.
Watermills:
Watermills (Molinos de agua) are still in use for the production of flour. It is well work visiting one.
Black-necked Swans:
Tranquil waters and community concern have made Curaco de Vélez a secure haven for Swans. They are sure to delight young or old and especially photographers.
Crafts :
A wide variety of colourful and characteristic knitwear and woven garments are produced from local wool. Dyeing is carried out with natural vegetable extracts and spinning is done by hand. Goods are sold from home or in Dalcahue at the Sunday fair.
