Iglesia de Nercón:

This large church, situated 50 meters from the road and 4 km south of Castro, has a magnificent multi-tiered bell tower. The interior walls are painted to look like marble and highlight some remarkable statues and a unique altar.

Museo Municipal:

Situated in the centre of Castro, one block from the Plaza de Armas, it contains a varied collection of interesting exhibits, such as a bicycle made of wood and agricultural implements. At the entrance, a photo exhibition shows the railroad, the plaza, Chilote portraits and the destruction caused by the 1960 earthquake.

La iglesia San Francisco:

The Jesuits built and rebuilt many churches that stood on this site. This national monument was constructed in 1906. Designed by the Italian, Eduardo Provasoli and built it by local craftsmen, it was originally destined for cement construction and to house Franciscan monks. The impressive towers help to show off the warmth of the excellent woodwork used in the cornices, altars and choir. The exterior is protected by painted, sheet metal.

Ferial artesanal calle Lillo:

This craft market is situated on the waterfront, next to the wharf at the bottom of Calle Blanco. The crafts include woodwork, Chilote cooking utensils, woollen waistcoats and hand knitted sweaters. In the palafito restaurants hearty meals, like cazuelas (Chilean stew pot) and smoked salmon, can be had at a low price. In the summer one can eat the famous Chilote ?Curanto?.

Festival Costumbrista:

This traditional country fair is held in the Parque Municipal, on the third weekend in February, every year. Communal organisations, country folk and crafts people demonstrate their indigenous culture and traditional Chiloé food. Apart from the preparation of the dishes, one can eat food like Curanto, yoco, milcao, chochoca, etc; drink chicha de manzana and sample licor de oro. One also has the opportunity to listen to folk music and songs from the archipelago.

Iglesia de Rilán:

Leaving Castro on the road towards Dalcahue, and turning off to Rilán, the road goes past the chapel of Quilquico (a National Monument). After 29 km Rilán is reached. It lies in a valley and has a large church built by Franciscan missionaries in the middle of the 19th century. With its pure and clean lines, it was a forerunner to the grand Franciscan church in Castro.
