CHILOE
Chiloé is a land of mythology, native potatoes and native forests. Its home of the Huilliches (formely part of the Mapuches) and Spanish descendants. Its most famous architectural expressions are the palafitos (houses built on stilts on the sea-side) and the churches, of which 16 have been declared Human Heritage by UNESCO.

The archipelago of Chiloé is distinguished by its unique biodiversity; it is estimated that it is host of many endemic fauna species that are endangered of extinction, being an ecosystem of Global Relevency. It is located in Southern Chile, and is formed by 30 inhabited and 40 uninhabited islands, the main one, Chiloé, being the 2nd largest in South America. It contains the last relatively intact Valdivian temperate Forests of Chile, and as been classified as one of the ecoregions of highest onservation priority in Latin America, with a globally significative biological distinctivity.

Recently, BMCh has extended its territorial jurisdiction to include the entire island of Chiloé as well of the smallest ones. Doing so, BMCh covers the whole province of Chiloé, that is, approximately one million hectares composed od private agroforest properties, public lands like Chiloé's national park, and some indigenous territories.
